Otherwise they will direct their attention elsewhere and study to get grades, credits, degrees, or pursue other objectives, relevant or irrelevant to education, that they will discover in their academic work. There can be no drama about subjects dead to the student, and suggestion is bound to be sterile unless problems presented to the class are exciting. The process of learning is fruitful only in so far as it is akin to life itself and draws constantly from life's changing issues and stresses. And who but the teacher is qualified to reveal and explain to the student the meaning of his environment and his relationship between the individual and society?
